Leviathan Energy Hydroelectric Ltd. was awarded a grant from the EUREKA program to develop an in-pipe turbine aimed at providing a power-generating solution for water transported from mountainous areas. One of 250 projects each year that received the EUREKA label, Israel-based Leviathan Energy Hydroelectric has partnered with two Italian companies, Fontana SRL and ENCO Engineering Consultants SRL, to develop a model that is to deliver up to 50KW per hour. The Benkatina turbine is typically installed within a pipe and generates electricity by utilizing the water flowing through it. The model is to be tested in the Alps of Northern Italy.
EUREKA partners with the Eilat-Eilot Int’l Renewable Energy Conference
EUREKA, a pan-European industrial R&D network, is partnering with the Eilat-Eilot International Renewable Energy Conference 2011. Government and company representatives from all 40 countries have been invited to showcase their wares and propose projects at the Eilat Conference and the boards of the EUREKA clusters will convene their meetings in Eilat, concurrently with the Renewable Energy Conference.

European Commission Selects Eilat-Eilot Conference for Inclusion in Prestigious Renewable Energy Initiative
The Eilat-Eilot International Renewable Energy Conference (www.eilatenergy.com), one of the world’s most important renewable energy events, announced today that the European Commission, the executive arm of the European Union, has chosen the Eilat-Eilot Conference for inclusion in the Commission’s ECO4B initiative, a select project led by the Enterprise Europe Network. The initiative will invest in renewable energy conferences taking place over 2010-2011 in Israel, Spain, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Italy. The Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy conference will be held from February 16-18 in Eilat, Israel.
